A new website www.SACTsafety.com has been launched by nurse lecturers Alison Simons and Samantha Toland from Birmingham City University to highlight the risks healthcare workers face when delivering chemotherapy to patients.

The site is campaigning to raise awareness of the potential dangers and for the mandatory use of closed system drug transfer devices (CSDTD) to minimise the risk of nurses being exposed to potentially dangerous cytotoxic medicines during the treatment process.

Featuring links to clinical evidence, advice about training and education and news about meetings and events, the website also has examples of healthcare providers who have introduced closed systems to protect their staff. There are also social media accounts on Twitter @sactsafety4all and on Facebook @sactsafety4all linked to the website.
